Case · Deloitte

The Beat

During the pandemic, everyone was stuck at home. Deloitte wanted to bring colleagues back together. So we started a radio station of their own.

It didn't stop at one broadcast: there were around fourteen. From The Garage in Amsterdam. Two days live from the Thuishaven event grounds. At an onboarding event in the Werkspoorkathedraal in Utrecht. Even from the 44th floor of the Maastoren in Rotterdam.

Seven or eight small groups of colleagues learned radio from Thomas. They presented and did the interviews; we ran the tech. The whole company tuned in.

And we often raised money for charity together. Like a fundraiser for Ukraine, live from Deloitte's head office on the Zuidas in Amsterdam.

A radio broadcast on location, from set-up to sign-off

We arrive in the morning. We build the studio, hang the microphones and test the connection.

Then it is over to your colleagues. A radio broadcast on location sounds like the radio in the car, but it is all about your company.

After the sign-off we pack up. You keep the best moments.

The best part? When the quietest colleague suddenly can't be dragged away from the mic.

Questions about radio on location

Short answers
What is radio on location?

Your own radio station for your company or event. We build a real studio on location and go live with music, interviews and stories from your people. Colleagues make the radio, and everyone can listen and watch.

Can we have our own radio station at our company?

Yes. We set up a pop-up radio studio at your office for a day or a week: your own company radio station. All you arrange is a spot, power and internet. We bring the rest.

Can the broadcast be in English?

Absolutely. We broadcast in English, Dutch or a mix of both. Perfect for international teams in Amsterdam: colleagues of every nationality can get on air.

What occasions is it suited for?

An anniversary or company milestone, a staff or company party, kick-off, town hall, trade fair or conference. As team building or for a fundraiser. Or simply a week of radio at the office, so colleagues hear from each other again. Like we did for Deloitte with The Beat.

Can our own colleagues present?

Yes, that's the best part. They get a short radio lesson from Thomas van Empelen beforehand. During the broadcast they present and do the interviews, while we handle the tech and the production. At Deloitte, around eight groups of colleagues learned to make radio this way.

Can Thomas host the show?

Definitely. Thomas van Empelen is a broadcaster at SLAM! and on air in the afternoon show. Thomas hosts your radio show, event or podcast — or kicks things off and lets your colleagues take over.

Can everyone tune in, even from home?

Yes. The broadcast can be heard and watched live, on laptop and mobile. Also by people working from home or at another office.

What do you need from us on location?

A spot for the studio, power and internet. We bring and set up everything else: microphones, mixing desk, cameras and the stream.

Do you work across the Netherlands?

Yes. We're based in Amsterdam and come to your location anywhere in the Netherlands.

How much does radio on location cost?

From €3,000 excl. VAT for up to four hours live (Live). A whole day with custom jingles (Station) is €4,000, and with a radio lesson for colleagues (Complete) €6,500. Prices apply up to 250 employees; travel costs apply beyond 25 km from Amsterdam. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll get a proposal over to you quickly.
